CBC: no abnormalities

Electrophoresis:
-Albumin and alpha-1 globulins decreased, beta globulins increased, A:G ratio decreased-- indicative of acute inflammation-- suggested to do a follow-up protein electrophoresis

Brought p to aviary to observe flight ability. Released from box - was able to fly up to perch. There is mild asymmetry, with the right wing not raising quite as much as the left, and there is poor endurance. Ok to remain in aviary for continued care and exercise.

Comments
Whole body VD, whole body VD H-view, whole body right lateral, right extremity right lateral

The right shoulder itself appears stable with the head of the humerus within the glenoid. However, there were fractures noted in the right coracoid and most likely the right clavicle. The right coracoid fracture had caudomedial luxation. The right clavicular fracture is less clear but potentially demonstrates caudomedial displacement. The right femur is malaligned with caudal displacement at the proximal aspect with a bony callus. The right tarsometatarsus is malaligned with caudomedial displacement with a bony callus.

Electrophoresis Comments
The beta globulins are increased and reflective of acute inflammation. Moderate to marked increases
in this fraction can be observed with nephritis, hepatitis, dermatitis, and mycotic infection. Increases
may also be observed with sarcocystosis and chronic chlamydiosis as well as mycobacteriosis.
Specific beta globulin proteins which often manifest as a monoclonal appearing peak in this fraction
are also increased in egg laying birds. Followup EPH may have prognostic value in this case.

Suspected old fractures of right coracoid, femur, and metatarsus, likely at least 6-8 weeks old if not longer. Patient appears to be eating at Dr. Billings. Gave 0.12mls meloxicam IM. Plan to monitor intake, start on oral meloxicam and when cleared for AI, rads to confirm no active orthopedic injuries. AI swab collected.
